We headed down to Brighton on Wednesday to surprise my little brother on his graduation day and spend a couple of days by the seaside. Seeing as we weren't surprising my brother until Thursday evening we had almost two full days to spend together soaking up as much fun as possible. I think we succeeded. We checked in at our hotel and headed straight back out to meet Matt's brother and his partner for an evening of catching up, good food, fun times and unfortunately no photographs. After we said goodbye to them Matt and I weren't ready to head back to the hotel so we bought some cheeky doughnuts and took a wander along Brighton pier.
Thursday saw us getting out and about early to make the most of our time. We strolled along the beach in the morning sunshine taking some photos before heading towards the shops. We came away from the shops with some photo slides, a cute soup mug and our first photobooth pictures. I'd call that successful and we had so much fun finding our little treasures. In the spirit of adventure we went to a Vietnamese street food restaurant for lunch which was oh so good but extremely filling. All that was left to do was head back to the hotel to get ready for our big surprise. Oh was my brother surprised. I don't have a copy of the photos yet as my Dad was the photographer for all of the posed shots but I was so proud of my brother and his girlfriend. After what felt like a hundred photos of different combinations of people we headed for a drink and then a big family meal in an awesome restaurant.
After fitting all of that adventure in to a couple of days it was a tired, quiet train journey back to Bath. We managed to fit in one last little bit of fun when we got home though. Lunch out and then a trip to watch The Dark Knight Rises at the cinema.
We had so much fun over those three days and it was just what we needed. We've felt a little trapped and stuck in a rut recently but our trip blew all of the cobwebs away and provided us with much needed inspiration.
