Weekend Adventuring

 

We finally had a chance to have a proper Sunday adventure. It was perfect. A walk up on the hills surrounding Bath, walking hand in hand and talking about the future. I cherish the time I get with Matt away from the distractions of day to day life. The time that we can spend talking about where we're heading, what we want and the things we are waiting for.

Time in nature with this man at my side never fails to reinvigorate my very being.

Our Anniversary Weekend

 

 

We had such a lovely weekend to celebrate our first anniversary. We kept it pretty low key but it was nice just to spend time together. We bought Halo 4 as a little anniversary present to ourselves so Saturday was pretty much spent playing that together. Saturday night was full of beer, party food and Halo 4 and we actually saw in our anniversary before we went to sleep. When we woke on the Sunday we had sparkling wine that was left over from the wedding as well as cake we’d bought from the same patisserie that provided our wedding cakes. After a little more Halo we headed out for an autumnal walk in the sunshine before popping in a pub that we’ve been going to since the beginning of our relationship. To finish off the day we went to a Thai restaurant that was also the scene of one of our first dates.
All in all it was a fun trip down memory lane whilst discussing the future that we have together. What more could I ask for out of an anniversary?

This weekend was lovely. We spent Saturday walking along the canal and being tourists in our own city, eating ice cream for lunch and generally being silly. It was awesome. It was also the 9 month mark of our marriage. I can't believe we're three quarters of the way through our first year. It's going so fast! Sunday saw us heading to Lacock Abbey for their bee and honey day after waiting for a thunderstorm to pass. The day ended up being really warm and although the events of the honey day weren't great, Lacock was lovely as always. We spent a lot of time wandering the grounds and enjoying the unexpected sunshine.

Weekend Adventuring...

We're back from our trip back down to Dorset. It was an absolutely lovely weekend and I'm sad to be back to reality. Whenever we go back and spend time with friends and family I come home sad that we don't live closer. Totally out of character for myself I didn't take any photos on Saturday. The wedding was beautiful and I was too busy just enjoying the day to take any photos!

On Sunday we Matt and I headed out on a walk with my brother and his girlfriend to try and clear our hungover heads. It was just what I needed and built up my appetite ready for my Mum's roast dinner when we returned. Like I said it was a lovely weekend filled with loved ones.

Sunday Adventure on a Saturday

The weather wasn't looking good for Sunday so we decided to head out on a little adventure on Saturday instead. After out disappointing adventure last week we decided to head to one of my favourite places, Dyrham Park in the hopes of better luck this week. We were rained on, I developed a strange rash on my legs and it was pretty windy but all in all a lovely couple of hours wandering around together.

No some days when we're out I grow obsessed over taking pictures of the two of us. Most trips out I'm content to snap away at anything but just sometimes it has to be the two of us. This adventure was one of those days. So be prepared for pictures of Matt and I. During this trip to Dyrham it all started with taking a photo of us next to our tree. We've done this twice before over the past few years and I always love the outcome.

You can see the previous versions of this photo here. I hope that we continue to take variations of this photo throughout our lives and I'd like to showcase them all together on our wall. Imagine how awesome that photo will look with a few little children in it.

So once this photo started me off I took a few more pictures of the two of us as we wandered around...

I'm still getting used to seeing myself with dark hair. I keep glancing at these photos and wondering who that person is with my husband! I'm sure I'll get used to it but I'd been blonde for so long.
Anyway, as you can see, despite the rain and the rash we had fun. It was nice to be outside wandering and once we were done we headed in to town for lunch and a pint to celebrate our successful adventure. I'm glad to see that last week's was just a blip. I'll leave you with a couple more shots of us....

A Failed Sunday Adventure....

Sunday started off great. I had a boiled egg in this little guy. That made me happy.

We've got so much going on at the moment that I knew we wouldn't have time for a proper Sunday adventure but there was a little woodland nearby that we haven't been to in over a year so we decided to go there. We hopped in the car for the short drive and once there we paid our entry, received our guide and headed off on a woodland walk. We hadn't been walking very long when we realised the guide was different to the one we had received last time we visited and was in fact missing some of the destinations. After some investigation we realised they had sold a chunk of the woodland and that it was no private property and therefore off limits! Such a disappointment. This meant our adventure only lasted about 45 minutes and that was with stopping for photos. I didn't even end up with very many nice photos. Here's what I did take...

It was nice to get out of the house and into the countryside even if it was only for a little while. I just need to research our Sunday adventures a little better in the future. Here's hoping this weeks adventure is better!

My last day as a 24 year old

Matt had to work on my actual birthday so we decided to treat Sunday as my unofficial birthday instead. I was treated to breakfast in bed which were home made pop tarts inspired by these. They were delicious, I think I could have eaten them all day long. Yum.

 When we’d finally eaten our fill of pop tarts and got ourselves ready we headed out on a little adventure. The weather was pretty bad though so after a little county drive we decided to stop for lunch and see it cleared up. I had a roast beef dinner and a pint of cider and it was delightful.

We wandered along the canal to walk off our lunch before heading back to the car and on to the Courts which is a National Trust property that I hadn’t actually been to before. Unfortunately the weather didn’t really clear up so we didn’t stay nearly as long as I would have liked. We’ll definitely go back in nicer weather though.

 Once we were home and dried off we spent the evening hanging out together, drinking beer and playing board games. It was truly awesome. I know to a lot of people that day doesn’t sound too exciting but to me it is. It has a little of everything I like to do and a whole lot of my husband…what more could I ask for?
