Exciting News...

I entered this picture into a competition on Facebook for the National Trust about a month ago. The competition was being used as a way to collect people's Special Places from around the country and this tree is most certainly ours. I've talked about our tree on this blog before and this photo was the most recent one we had.

Anyway, long story short, we made the shortlist for the competition! So we're down to the final 10 and we now rely on people voting for our entry on Facebook. So if you do have an account please head over here and vote for us, I'd really appreciate it.

Sorry for my Absence....

I'm back now. I'm not sure why I was gone so long. After I'd missed a couple of days it became harder and harder to get back into blogging. I've set myself some weekly guidelines now though and I feel that I'm ready to jump back in so here I am. I'll try not to put up too many out of date posts but Matt and I have just spent a week away in Ringwood Forest and I have hundreds of photos from there so I'm going to blog about that. This is my apology in advance, you're going to have to look at our Halloween photos almost three weeks later. We have been up to other fun little adventures since I last wrote on here so here's just a quick photo update of our life to get you up to date....

A weekend in September. We baked bread together and then went on a local walk. A beautiful, perfect weekend spent walking hand in hand talking of our future.

Headed to Prior Park in early October. We'd never been before despite it being only a short walk away.

And spending an autumnal day visiting Stourhead. It was ridiculously busy but we still managed to enjoy a short picnic and take some leaf photos.

Back to Normal...

Sorry I didn't post my Wednesday challenge update this week. The thing is, I haven't actually finished a book this week. I decided to start reading the second book in George R.R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire saga and, what with travelling and adventuring, I'm only halfway through it now. I only have seven books left before I hit my target of 50 so I'm starting to think more carefully about what I want to read next. If you guys have any suggestions they would be most appreciated.

Life has returned to normal now after our week of adventure. I'm so worn out from all of the travelling but I'm already looking forward to the next one. We have a cabin in the New Forest booked for October with some friends so I don't even have to wait long. This is a little bit of a random post just to say hi and that I'm back. I'll leave you with some snapshots of Matt enjoying our bank holiday adventure at Mottisfont...

Wales...

We're back from our adventure in Wales now. It has been a busy week off but I've enjoyed every second of it. We drove up to Wales on Thursday, stopping at Tredegar House on the way for a picnic. I love breaking up a journey with a stroll outside and a mini adventure.

Our few days in Wales involved a castle, a beach, lots of relaxing and catching up. It was awesome even if the weather didn't want to co operate. You don't need sunshine to have a good time. Our trip to Wales ended Sunday and we headed back to Bath wishing our time off would last a little longer...

Cornwall (and Devon) Continued...

Monday we headed to the National Trust property of Cotehele and we walked and walked and walked. It was a really good day. The sun was shining and there was so much to see and do. As soon as we walked in the property there was a small weapon exhibition and Matt got to hold two swords. He was pretty happy about that!

After walking around the property we headed into the grounds, walking around the gardens and orchard before wandering down to the quay and having some lunch. After lunch we walked to Cotehele Mill and then back up to the house and the car park.

Somehow we had enough energy left for a fish and chip dinner and a trip to Fowey to watch the fireworks. A brilliant end to the day even if it left me completely worn out!

 And then it was Tuesday and that meant time to go home but not before we had a morning trip to Charlestown with Matt's Dad. Then we were on the road. We broke up our journey on the way home at Castle Drogo which was so much fun. I think that Matt and I could have spent the entire day there to be honest but unfortunately we had to get home. We did have time to wander through the castle though and even found some time to check out the view. Although we did get soaked doing so and it decided to tip it down as we wandered through the grounds. Oh well.

So there we have it, our little Cornish adventure. I had such a lovely time and it's great to think that my week off is only just beginning. We're in Wales right now visiting Matt's Mum and hopefully having more adventures and I'll be back to post about those on Tuesday.

Our Trip to Cornwall

We set of from Bath on Saturday and decided to stop at Killerton to have a little packed lunch and break up the journey some what. Unfortunately it started to rain not long after we got there but we still had our picnic, wandered around the grounds and took photos of flowers (a theme of our trip).

The evening was dedicated to catching up, eating good food and generally having a nice time. The weather Sunday was still looking a little suspect so we decided to head to the Eden Project. I’d never been before so I was pretty excited and it definitely did not disappoint. We spent the entire day there, wandering around and taking photos.

After the Eden Project we headed out to dinner at a lovely place right on the beach before getting an early night. I was so worn out!

Speaking of worn out, I'm pretty tired right now so I think I'll post the rest of our Cornish adventures tomorrow. Hope you all don't mind.

Sunday Adventure on a Saturday

The weather wasn't looking good for Sunday so we decided to head out on a little adventure on Saturday instead. After out disappointing adventure last week we decided to head to one of my favourite places, Dyrham Park in the hopes of better luck this week. We were rained on, I developed a strange rash on my legs and it was pretty windy but all in all a lovely couple of hours wandering around together.

No some days when we're out I grow obsessed over taking pictures of the two of us. Most trips out I'm content to snap away at anything but just sometimes it has to be the two of us. This adventure was one of those days. So be prepared for pictures of Matt and I. During this trip to Dyrham it all started with taking a photo of us next to our tree. We've done this twice before over the past few years and I always love the outcome.

You can see the previous versions of this photo here. I hope that we continue to take variations of this photo throughout our lives and I'd like to showcase them all together on our wall. Imagine how awesome that photo will look with a few little children in it.

So once this photo started me off I took a few more pictures of the two of us as we wandered around...

I'm still getting used to seeing myself with dark hair. I keep glancing at these photos and wondering who that person is with my husband! I'm sure I'll get used to it but I'd been blonde for so long.
Anyway, as you can see, despite the rain and the rash we had fun. It was nice to be outside wandering and once we were done we headed in to town for lunch and a pint to celebrate our successful adventure. I'm glad to see that last week's was just a blip. I'll leave you with a couple more shots of us....

My last day as a 24 year old

Matt had to work on my actual birthday so we decided to treat Sunday as my unofficial birthday instead. I was treated to breakfast in bed which were home made pop tarts inspired by these. They were delicious, I think I could have eaten them all day long. Yum.

 When we’d finally eaten our fill of pop tarts and got ourselves ready we headed out on a little adventure. The weather was pretty bad though so after a little county drive we decided to stop for lunch and see it cleared up. I had a roast beef dinner and a pint of cider and it was delightful.

We wandered along the canal to walk off our lunch before heading back to the car and on to the Courts which is a National Trust property that I hadn’t actually been to before. Unfortunately the weather didn’t really clear up so we didn’t stay nearly as long as I would have liked. We’ll definitely go back in nicer weather though.

 Once we were home and dried off we spent the evening hanging out together, drinking beer and playing board games. It was truly awesome. I know to a lot of people that day doesn’t sound too exciting but to me it is. It has a little of everything I like to do and a whole lot of my husband…what more could I ask for?
