I made this! This! I know it's not perfect, ideally I would have liked equal layers and brighter colours but I'm still so proud of myself. I made it for a friends birthday last weekend and, as I tend to do, I attached way too much significance and importance to it. It became more than a cake. To me it symbolised my ability to provide and surprise. I desperately want to be that creative, exciting housewife who provides for her family. My cooking skills are still pathetic but I'm trying my hardest and although I've got a couple of years before I need to worry I want to be ready for it. This cake symbolises me taking giant leaps towards that person I want to be....or, you know, it's just a cake.

My love for you...

Sometimes when I wake up in the morning and when I see you still sleeping beside me I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. I can't believe that you're mine, that we're together and that these past few years haven't just been a beautiful dream. When we got together I had just come out of a long term relationship and I really wasn't looking for another one. I wanted to find myself, to focus on me and to discover who I really was. As we spent more time together though I was shocked by how much I was learning about myself as I opened up to you. Now I have never felt so comfortable and at peace with who I am and I owe that completely to you. You brought out the best in me and I'm so grateful that I have you by my side on this great adventure called life.
I hope you enjoyed your day Dad. It was fun doing something we haven't done in a while even if we have all got really bad at bowling! You still bowl faster than I ever could although it was weird to see that Thomas could bowl that fast as well. Guess it's just another reminder that we're grown up now. I think you'll always beat me at bowling though.
I really hope you enjoyed your day though. You really deserved it. You're the best Dad a girl could ever ask for. I can always turn to you for cuddles....although I can't guarantee you won't lick my nose or scratch my cheeks with your stubble! I get so much of my temperament from you and my interests....I was always going to be a nerd with you as my Dad!
I'm so glad we managed to get a photo of all of us. It really makes me smile...
This photo really shows that things are changing in our family but I promise I'm always going to be your little girl. You're the gold standard that I judge all other men against. You set such a high standard I'm surprised I've managed to even find someone! But I have and I hope that when we have children of our own he'll be as good a father to them as you are to us. I know at least they're going to have one hell of a Grandad!
I'm sorry but I had to put this photo on here. It sums up your goofy sense of humour perfectly.
I love you Dad xxxx

Welsh Adventure....Part 3

Last post from Wales. I promise. On day 3 we headed to Tenby. Although the weather was pretty bad we took a wander along the beach anyway and snapped a couple of photos.
After our walk we headed to the Tudor Merchant's House which is a National Trust property in Tenby but I didn't take any photos as it was quite small and we weren't in there very long. We were soon finished with Tenby so we headed out to the Stackpole Estate to take a walk. We had another car picnic and then set off wandering. It was a really pretty walk along the river and across the bridge...
Unfortunately we got a bit lost and our way kept being blocked by various ropes. So we took one last photo and headed back the way we came...
That was the end of our three days alone. The next few days were a lot slower paced luckily as we were knackered from all of our adventuring. I did find time to grab another jumping photo of Matt on the beach...
Take a stroll around Colby Woodland Garden together...
and walk along the nearby beach of Amroth...
 Also took some flower photos...

So that's it. The end of my Welsh adventures...until the next time.

A few more photos from Day 2 of Wales

Welsh Adventure...Part 2

I've finally got around to writing up day 2 of our Welsh adventure. I took so many photos on this day that I've have to post some as a separate post to avoid this one becoming ridiculously long and annoying everybody. We headed to Mwnt beach on our second morning in Wales and it was beautiful. Windy but beautiful. Matt immediately wanted to climb up the nearest hill and although I wasn't too keen to start with I'm glad he convinced me because the view was incredible. Here's Matt having a well deserved break at the top to admire it...
And I managed to get a photo of the two of us at the top although due to the dodgy camera placing to protect it from the wind you can’t see much of the view in this self timer shot…
Once we got down from the hill we headed to the car for a little car picnic and then headed down to the beach. Once down there we realised there’s not much to do on the beach in bad weather without any small children so we quickly became bored. We admired the view and messed around for a while before heading to our next destination. Here’s an example of the silly beach photos we took…
Destination two of the day was St Dogmaels Abbey. We were the only people there so once again had fun running around and being idiots. And once again I took lots of photos.
Then we were off to Cilgerran Castle. It was a really busy day! The weather had started to pick up by this point so by the time we got to the castle it was quite sunny. There was lots of running around to be done here as there were lots of steps and towers even though the castle is a ruin. Here’s a photo of the two of us in one of the towers…
The castle was our last visit of the day. We managed three places and only spent about £2! I couldn’t believe it. I promise that there will only be one more of these posts. They’re here more for me to be able to look back at. I’ll finish this post with a couple of jumping photos of Matt and I at Cilgerran Castle…

Welsh Adventure

Ok I know that I've been back a while and I still haven't written about our little holiday yet but this has been my first day off since we got back. We were staying at Matt's Mum's whilst she was away on holiday so we could dog sit and we had many little day trips planned. On our first full day in Wales we headed to St Davids and looked around the Bishops Palace. We spent ages there running all over and climbing up and down all of the steps like a couple of children! I also took loads of photos, unfortunately Matt's camera died after about ten minutes but I took enough for the two of us!

After Bishops Palace we headed into the cathedral to have a look around. I don't really like being in cathedrals or churches as I always feel like a naughty child. I love the architecture though so I often have to brave it. Look at the ceiling in the one we went in though...it's amazing!
Other than that in our first day we did a bit of food shopping in a nearby town and took the dogs for a walk. Here's a cute photo I snapped of Matt whilst dog walking...
I think that I'm going to have to split this Welsh adventure up a bit as I've already posted so much just on the first day! I thought I was being so good, I managed to only post a few of the hundreds of photos I took. I'll try and write the next part up as soon as possible before I forget everything we did!
